Format[]

The 17th Annual Absolute Dance Nationals is a single-elimination tournament featuring the winners of sixty-four Absolute Dance Regionals competitions across Canada. Unlike the 17th Annual Regionals, a varying number of dancers represent their studios in six separate rounds: male solos, small groups, duets, female solos and two ten-person dances. In a ceremony held prior to the finals, the top three highest scoring duets, small groups and respective solos receive awards based on their placing.

Rounds[]

Italicized teams are victors.

Male Solos[]

This round takes place between "Re-Match" and "Old Friends".

Trivia[]

  • A digital list showing twelve of the studios competing in the male solo round can be seen in "Old Friends", apparently revealing that ten studios that also competed at Regionals in Region 7 somehow made it to Nationals this year.
    • As it seems illogical that all of them were able to make use of Elite Dance Academy's loophole, and because none of these studios are shown competing, it is assumed that the studios were used as fillers and were not meant to be taken seriously as competitors.
  • Similarly to the 17th Annual Regionals, many of the studios shown competing at Nationals are based on real-life dance studios in Canada:
  • For seemingly the first time a loophole in the rulings was exploited. A dancer can be placed on the official team lists for two teams without being detected. Amanda exploited this after she competed with The Next Step Dance Studio in the finals having competed with Elite during the competition. In theory, Daniel could've also competed with The Next Step in finals. The flaw has now been resolved by the Nationals board.

Notes[]

  1. The male dancer from Performing Dance Arts is shown to have won Mister Nationals Soloist in "Danger Zone", meaning he received the highest score in the male solo round and therefore must have beaten the studio he competed against.
  2. The male soloist from Creative Edge Dance Studio is shown to have placed third overall; however, since a studio doesn’t necessarily have to advance in order to win an award for a routine, it is unclear whether the studio advanced to the second round or if they lost to Performing Dance Arts (it is shown that Life of Dance competed against Vlad’s Dance Academy in this round).
  3. The male soloist from Lisa Naves Dance Company, Lakota, is shown competing in the small group round, meaning his team must have advanced from the male solo round.
  4. Although Daniel officially competes with Superstar Dance Academy, Kate reveals that she has submitted the list of names for The Next Step Dance Studio to the Nationals board in "Work It", and Daniel leaves during "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better". This means that, like Amanda, Daniel is likely registered on the Nationals teams of both studios - and as it is later ruled that Amanda sill counts as an alternate for The Next Step, it can be presumed that this would also be the case for Daniel.
