The 18th Annual Absolute Dance Regionals in Region 7 is set in Season 4 from to Even Better Than the Real Thing to A Change Is Gonna Come. It takes place in 2016.

The SNR Network coverage of the event is hosted by Tanisha Scott and Chuck Anderson.

The winner is Gemini Dance Studio.

History

To qualify for the 18th Annual Regionals, each studio needed to compete at at least one of three regional qualifiers. In the first qualifier, a trio competition, the top four studios qualify for Regionals; in the second, a quintet competition, the top three dance studios qualify; and the final qualifier, a duet competion, takes only one studio (though a solo round decides the winner in the event of a tie). [1]

Rounds

Solo

If a team's soloist qualifies to the next round, they perform a quartet. If not, they must perform a trio.[2]

The soloist is randomized and must freestyle, which is revealed at the competition.[3]

Sloane is picked to perform the solo for The Next Step Dance Studio, but is disqualified because she performs choreography from her music video with Jude.[3] For this reason, The Next Step must perform in the trio round.

Qualifying teams*

  1. Dance Extreme
  2. Gemini Dance Studio
  3. Steps

*The teams listed are the ones that qualify to the quartet round.

Trio

The trio round is a sudden death round that only occurs if a team does not qualify during the solo round.[2]

After their soloist is disqualified from the solo round, The Next Step Dance Studio's Amanda, Michelle, and Amy perform their trio.[4]

Qualifying teams*

  1. Rythum Plus Dance Company
  2. The Next Step Dance Studio

*The teams listed are the ones that qualify to the duet round.

Quartet

The quartet is the round after the solo round (if the solo is won). If a team wins in the quartet round, they immediately move on to the semi-finals; if the team loses, they must perform their duet.[5] Since The Next Step Dance Studio performs in the trio round, they do not perform in the quartet round.

  1. Dance Extreme
  2. Gemini Dance Studio

Duet

Richelle and Noah perform the duet for The Next Step Dance Studio.[6]
