Before the show
Deborah is concerned about James, as he has border line failing grades. Deborah feels that James has been spending too much time at dance and has not spent enough time concentrating on school. She threatens to take him out of the studio unless his grades improve; Chris promises that he will tutor him.
When James grades worsen, Deborah decides to permanently remove James from the studio. When James tells his team that he's leaving indefinitely, A-Troupe is devastated and Michelle begs her to reconsider. After thinking about it, Deborah decides to take James out of the studio for two weeks with complete omission from dance and promises that he will return if his brings his grades up. However, if James's grades don't improve he'll never set foot in the studio again. Deborah grounds James until his grades get better.
Deborah, along with Riley, accompanies James to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for his driving test. When the driving instructor informs her that James failed, she is automatically defensive and goes on about James's conscientiousness and great driving; she is relieved to discover it is a joke.
Deborah is very worked up about Kathy and Arthur's wedding and is happy when it works out in the end.
Deborah is greatly invested in James's education, proven when she threatens to pull him out of The Next Step Dance Studio for life due to his poor grades. She can also be extremely high strung and she has a no-nonsense personality. Deborah doesn't necessarily approve of James doing dance.
Deborah is a very short, light-skinned, dark-haired woman with brown eyes.
