Plot

Under Daniel's watch, TNS East is rehearsing their routine in Studio 1. Meanwhile, West is building a routine with TNS West in Studio A. As this occurs, Skylar frantically enters Emily's office, asking her if she got Kate's e-mail. Skylar confesses that, per the e-mail, only one team can represent The Next Step Dance Studio at Regionals. Emily proposes that their dance captains speak to each other, although this cannot happen since Skylar has not yet picked one. Emily reminds that she has 12 classically trained dancers while Skylar has 11, some of which are from the Internet, so that it is clear that TNS East will be going to Regionals. Emily says that she is sending her team to the qualifier.

Before Neutral Grounds opens, Heather dances, like she does every morning. Unbeknowst to Heather, Piper and Amy enter the cafe while she is dancing and watch from the doorway. Both Piper and Amy are shocked at how good of a dancer she is. Heather eventually notices Piper and Amy, stops dancing, and retreats behind the counter. Heather dismisses the two's praise and takes their orders. She confesses that she can never let anybody catch her dancing again.

In Studio 1, Richelle tells Lola, Amy, Jacquie, Noah, and Josh that they will be the focus of a six-person section in their ten-person dance. Richelle confesses that their dance has to be perfect if they hope to beat Skylar’s team. Richelle asks if anybody knows where Zara is and, just then, she arrives. Zara claims that her parents had a flat tire and promises she won't be late again. Josh is confused, knowing Zara takes the bus in the morning. The dancers begin rehearsing their routine. Noah asks Josh, who is behind him and beside Jacquie, to switch lines with him, although Jacquie refutes the idea. Noah keeps asking Josh to switch and, seeing as that would mean he is in the front row, Josh ultimately decides to comply. Noah tries to speak to Jacquie, although she doesn't wish to speak during rehearsal. Richelle notices their banter, calls them out, and asks the dancers to start the dance again in their normal positions. Jacquie is left angry and Noah realizes that he made things worse.

Piper approaches Heather in Neutral Grounds about her dancing. Piper is confused by Heather's refusal to talk about it, but is sure that she can convince her to join the team. Meanwhile, with Lola in tow, Richelle asks Jacquie if she should be concerned about her apparent distraction. Before Jacquie can reply, Lola assures Richelle not to worry, as Jacquie and Noah are just hanging out. Richelle tells Jacquie that she knows what it's like to have a crush on Noah, but warns her that it ruins everything. Richelle advises Jacquie not to date Noah if she wants everything to work out, and leaves. Jacquie considers this advice, since Richelle has known Noah for such a long time.

At The qualifier, Daniel and Emily are with Ben, Michelle, Lola and Kingston. Kingston says that this is very first competition with the Next Step. Michelle says that they have new jackets that says TNS East on the back and A on the arms which stands for A-Troupe. Ben says that this is first competition since the next step lost regionals. Then Gemini comes through and the twins says that they are the best and they are going to win. Lola says that she is nervous but she is ready to take them head on. Heather meets Piper in Studio A upon Piper's invitation. Piper eventually persuades Heather to dance. During her solo, Heather confesses that she comes from a big family and that she had to give up dance because it had become too expensive. When Heather finishes her solo, Piper asks her why she can't be a member of their team and Heather tells her the truth. Piper wishes she could do something. Meanwhile, feeling bad for Jacquie, Lola helps her with the choreography. Noah approaches Jacquie and, after Lola leaves, Jacquie tells Noah that they should remain friends. Skylar is in her office trying to figure out who is dancing in the routine against TNS East. Then Piper enters and says that they are a dancer short. Skylar confesses that she needs to find the dancer fast. Piper suggests a party and that they do a competition to help ease the cost of dancing for those who cannot afford it. Skylar says that is an amazing idea. Skylar also tells Piper that she is the dance captain of their team. At the qualifier, All the dancers are waiting to see who is going to regionals. They announce that Gemini, The Next Step Dance Studio, Rythum Plus, Steps In Time, Dance Extreme, Dance Inc and CDC are going to regionals.

Later that day, The dancers decide they should probably take down the decorations, but Skylar assures the dancers that it is still a worthwhile cause. The dancers decide that Skylar is right and that they can still put their pledges to good use. While most of the dancers received a fair amount of pledges, it is clear that Ozzy did not. Meanwhile, TNS East is rehearsing then Emily and the trio come back and Emily says that they qualified for Regionals. Michelle Starts leading TNS East in warm-up exercises when Ozzy interrupts to ask the dancers for pledges, having forgotten to get any. Noah decides to put forward $5 since, regardless of what team he's on, it's toward a good cause. When nobody else volunteers a pledge, Ozzy flirtatiously approached Richelle for one, but is rejected. As Ozzy asks a final time for more pledges, Emily enters Studio 1, upset that one of Skylar’s dancers is in her studio. When Emily asks, Josh reveals that Ozzy is trying to get pledges for the dance-a-thon and Emily offers Ozzy $10, so long as he leaves!

The dance-a-thon is about to begin for which the turnout is amazing, as even B-Troupers and J-Troupers are supporting the event. Skylar explains that they have to dance for 12 hours straight and that, if they stop, they are eliminated. People have donated money by the hour, so more dancing means more money. Piper has the most pledges and will therefore raise the most money depending on how long he dances. Kingston asks Piper whether she thinks he or Henry will raise the most money and, seeing as Henry has danced at the studio longer, Piper deems him the imminent victor. Ozzy tries to sway Piper's opinion by showing her some contemporarypartnering he has been practicing, but then disaster strikes: Piper accidentally slips and falls, spraining her ankle. Even though Piper has got the most pledges, Skylar forbids her to dance as to do so will make the injury worse.

A limping Piper approaches Heather in Neutral Grounds and asks her to replace her in the dance-a-thon. Although Heather is unresponsive at first, she eventually agrees after hearing about the scholarship fund. Heather and Piper return to Studio A, where Piper announces the news. With Piper replaced, Skylar and West perform a duet to commence the dance-a-thon. The timer set up in the studio begins counting up.

Three hours have passed and LaTroy soon pulls a muscle and is forced to stop dancing. At the four-hour mark, Noah brings in juice for the dancers, commencing a five-minute break. Noah brings Henry a drink, but he rejects it. Noah is confused, seeing as he believes Henry is dating Heather and should no longer be mad at him for pursuing Jacquie. A little after the five-minute break ends, Lola enters the studio with Richelle. Wanting Richelle to let loose, but knowing she would not concur, Lola lied to Richelle that Emily wanted her to scout dancers at the event. Ozzy tries to get Richelle to dance with him, which she refuses, although Lola convinces her to dance with Ozzy, knowing that Ozzy would help Richelle loosen up. Stunned that Richelle has agreed to dance with him, Ozzy freezes, and is promptly eliminated by Skylar. Piper heads to studio 1.

Eight hours pass, and the remaining dancers are getting very tired. Having assumed this would happen, Skylar has invited Eldon, James, John, Theo, Michelle, Thalia and Riley to the dance-a-thon, and their arrival at that moment successfully re-energizes the dancers. Kingston performs a flip with the other guys, making his legs eventually give out, eliminating him from the dance-a-thon. Thalia, Riley, and Michelle are very complimentary of Heather's dancing. Heather says that she is dancing with some members of the team that won Internationals. James sits beside Piper and commends her on her work on the dance-a-thon, as well as her work as dance captain, contenting Piper who is used to being compared to him.

In Studio 1, Kinston, Ben and Amy are rehearsing their ten person routine then Piper enters and says that she wants them at the Dance-A-Thorn. Amy refuses to go but she says that they are on the team they wanted. The timer set up in Studio A indicates 11 hours and 30 minutes have passed, with Heather and Henry as the only dancers left standing. Emily enters and embraces Riley, who includes Skylar into the hug. Sensing the awkwardness, Riley rushes away. Emily offers Skylar a cheque, seeing as she wants their eventual competition against each other to be fair. With a few minutes left of the event, Jacquie enters the studio. Seeing Jacquie and Noah holding hands, Henry prepares to bow out, but Heather pulls him back in and they dance together for the last few seconds. The dance-a-thon ends with Heather and Henry tied for first place. As the onlookers applaud, the two fall to the ground from exhaustion. The Band performs a song, which everyone joins in to dance to. Noah, Lola, and even Richelle confess to having fun, wishing that TNS East was as enjoyable. Heather says “I will join TNS West now.”
