Hip-hop is a style of dancer performed on The Next Step.

As of Season 8, there are seven hip-hop dancers in A-Troupe: Daisy, Heath, Izzy, Jett, Kenzie, Pete, and Xander.

History[]

Hip-hop is a dance genre that originated with African-Americans in New York City in the 1960s.[1] It is characterized by aspects such as rap music, b-boying, and graffiti art.[1] It has less disciplinary technique than other dance genres, and instead encourages dancers to "feel" the music.[1]

In Season 7, for the first time, more than half of A-Troupe, including both alternates and all the male dancers, are hip-hop dancers.[2]
