Life of Dance, colloquially known as Ladies of Destruction or simply LOD, is a dance studio from an unknown region of Canada which competes at the 17th Annual Absolute Dance Nationals. They won both the 15th and 16th Annual Nationals, and made it to the finals the year before that.[3]

LOD are famous for their flawless performances, and infamous for their icy facade and cutthroat tactics.[4]

History[]

Before the show[]

Prior to the 17th Annual Absolute Dance Nationals, LOD had made it to the finals of the three previous consecutive Nationals[3] and won both the 15th and 16th Annual competitions,[5] earning a reputation as a studio that could not be beaten.

Season 2[]

Life of Dance makes its first appearance at an exclusive nationwide trio competition, which its dancers win with ease.[6] They next appear at Nationals, where they defeat every team they face in the first five rounds with extremely high scores, getting beyond the semifinals with seemingly no effort at all.[3] However, despite a typically flawless performance, they are finally defeated in the finals by The Next Step Dance Studio.[5]

Prior to their loss, LOD are the only studio to receive awards for all their featured routines at Nationals, winning second place in the male solo, female solo and small group rounds (losing to Performing Dance Arts once and The Next Step twice, respectively) and first place in the duet round.[7]

Description[]

LOD is a well-established and highly respected studio. They are renowned for being brutally competitive, even amongst themselves; their widespread nickname is "Ladies Of Destruction",[6] referring to how the only reason they have a single male dancer on their Nationals team is so they can get past the male solo round.[4] Aside from this, the studio presents a facade of competing as an all-female team,[8] with their ten-person routines being the only ones to break it.

At competitions, LOD dancers often appear completely emotionless, rarely smiling outside of their performances; they also make no attempts to commiserate their rivals upon beating them, instead simply walking offstage.[9][8][3] The dancers and staff alike come across as arrogant, and seem to feel they are "above" their competition; however, they remain extremely professional even when defeated.[5]

LOD’s competitive dancers appear to specialise in contemporary and acro. They are constantly praised for both their flawless technique as individuals and their impeccable timing in group routines; however, they are noted to prioritise uniformity and precision over putting on a show.[5]

Uniform[]

LOD’s uniform consists of a red hooded jacket with black bottoms. The jacket has "LOD" emblazoned on the left breast, and the full name of the studio runs down the right sleeve.[4]
