  • This episode does not feature a title sequence.
  • This episode does not have any white walls.

  • Ozzy represented The Next Step in the resurrection round and defeated Hard Ice. The Next Step now progress to the finale.

Continuity[]

  • The Dancemania twist that The Next Step Dance Studio has to pick a random person (Curtis) from Hard Ice and vice-versa (Ozzy) in spite of Finn's rehearsals is reminiscent of how Michelle rehearsed for the solo at Regionals only to learn that the soloist (Sloane) was actually supposed to be picked randomly in "Even Better Than the Real Thing".
  • Finn refers to Ozzy's habit of constantly challenging people to dance battles.
  • Kingston references Ozzy's habit of eating sushi burritos, and then becoming sick afterwards, which occurs in both "Convention Tension" and "Dance, Dance, Resurrection".
  • Amy and Piper reference having danced on the same team as Richelle for years which started when they all joined A-Troupe in "Welcome to the Jungle".
  • Ozzy references never being taken seriously by A-Troupe which first becomes known in "This Changes Everything".
  • Finn and Piper's relationship shares a lot of similarities with James and Riley's relationship, a lot of which are highlighted in this episode:
    • Finn attempting to reconcile his relationship with Piper with a performance is reminiscent of James attempting to reconcile his relationship with Riley with a performance in "What'll I Do".
    • Piper confessing that she and Finn have had their "ups and downs" is reminiscent of James revealing the same thing about his relationship with Riley in "Song for Riley" in "Put You First".
    • Piper confessing that it's clear how much effort Finn put into the dance and it's clear how much she means to him is reminiscent of Riley confessing the same thing after James organizes the flash mob at her request to get Michelle to return to the studio in "Just Dance".
      • Both Finn and James's efforts involve all of A-Troupe surrounding them, eventual reconciliation with their girlfriends and kisses.
    • Finn writing "Baby, Won't You Come Back Soon" for Piper is reminiscent of James writing "Song for Riley" and "Brave" for Riley.
  • Finn surprises Piper with a cardboard box with a big fish and a little fish on each side of the box, symbolising the "Big fish; little fish; cardboard box" dance move that has been an inside joke between the two, since "Twinkle Toes".
  • During Ozzy's Illusions performance, he does Michelle's signature move, The Hair Flip.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Flow XS, who portray the dance group Hard Ice, are credited as choreographers in this episode.
  • There is a deleted scene from this episode between Richelle and Emily that later aired in "The Next Step's Best Studio Head" in "Dancemania Vidcast".
  • Alexandra Chaves revealed in the Behind the Scenes of this episode that when Finn performed "Baby, Won't You Come Back Soon" for Piper, that was the first time she heard the song.[2]
  • Piper and Finn's relationship sharing a lot of similarities with James and Riley's relationship is referred to a lot by Alexandra Chaves and Brittany Raymond, who play Piper and Riley respectively. In a Behind the Scenes of Season 6, Alexandra reveals that Piper originally sees Finn as someone like James, who flirts with all the girls, and that makes her wary of him[3] and in the 200th Episode Celebration: Episode 4, Alexandra and Shelby Bain compare the Piper-Finn-Amy love triangle and cheating in Season 7 to the Riley-James-Alfie love triangle and cheating in Season 4.[4] Brittany Raymond revealed via her YouTube channel that the Season 7 couple she thinks is most like Jiley - even though they are not exactly like Jiley, because James and Riley were together from the beginning and Piper and Finn only get together after Piper has been on the show for three seasons - is Pinn because Piper reminds her of Riley with both girls being anxious about everything.[5]

Errors[]

  • When Ozzy finishes his performance in the resurrection round, the judges share their thoughts and critiques. However, this does not happen after Curtis's performance representing Hard Ice.

Production Errors[]

  • A caption with the performing soloist/duet's name (followed by their studio in the resurrection round) and dance style appears at the start of their performance. However, this does not occur during Ozzy's performance.
  • When the majority of A-Troupe is wearing their Street B outfits, only Lily and Amy did not.
  • Aidan Reelis, Denise Goping, George Burden-Cheresna, Isiah Hall, Joshua Lamb, and Vladmir Tchernov appear in this episode but are not mentioned at the end credits.

  • Ryan references "The Wizard of Oz" when he gives Ozzy his feedback.
